This work is a series of paintings inspired by quotes taken from letters, written by the artist Christopher Wood (1901-1930) to Winifred Nicholson.For this exhibition Penelope Williams has focused on the following quotes relating to Wood’s sense of searching and belonging as expressed in these letters:
“I feel a bit like a feather drifting about in the wind.”
“Once here and sometimes forgotten.”
“It is complete already so does not need me.” Christopher Wood writing about Winifred’s home with Ben Nicholson.
“ Think one goes anywhere to the people one cares forand who cares for one and it’s a very odd world.
